Sand Playdough
Close your eyes while you are molding this play dough and you will swear you are at the beach on the sand, breezes carrying the heady scent of Hawaiian Tropic to you while you create amazing sandcastles near the ocean…. ok maybe its not that transporting but its pretty fun to play with anyway. Warning– This play dough smells so good that even a rational adult will be tempted to eat it… while it probably wont kill ya’ I strongly advise against it. This is one play dough recipe you are going to want to sit down and get your hands into with the kids, and it appeals to multiple senses- the smell, the fun texture, and it is really pretty to look at too. If your child (or you) want to keep your creation simply leave it out for a few days and let it dry.
Ingredients:
2 cups play sand
1 cup of hot water
½ cup of flour
2 Tbsp. coconut oil
1 Tbsp. Coconut extract
How to make Coconut Scented Sand Play-dough:
Stir together sand and flour.
Add water and then oil slowly until combined.
Finally add in coconut extract.
Flip dough out onto floured surface and knead , adding flour if needed until dough is no longer sticky.
Provide your child with fun sand toys, molds, or ocean animals to explore with. The texture is great for creating molds by pressing shapes and toys into it. The first time out with this the kids played for over 2 hours with it!
Store in an airtight container, ours usually lasts for months
