This week, Target and UPS revealed their holiday hiring plans. Between the two companies, they’re expected to hire a combined 230,000 seasonal workers in the coming months. Amazon also announced plans to recruit tens of thousands of seasonal workers for the holidays, while Kohl’s has been recruiting seasonal workers since July.
If you’re looking for seasonal employment to help pay the bills or fund your own holiday shopping, the following companies are four of the nation’s largest seasonal employers trying to attract workers with competitive pay & perks.

Target is also planning to hire about 8,000 seasonal team members at its 39 distribution and fulfillment centers across the country

UPS announced plans this week to hire about 100,000 seasonal workers to manage nearly twice as much daily shipping demand from November 2019 to January 2020. The full- and part-time positions include package handlers, drivers and driver-helpers.
Last year, seasonal workers made an average of $10.10 per hour. This year, pay will start at $14 an hour. For truck drivers, it can go up to $30 an hour (or even more in competitive labor markets)! In addition to attractive hourly pay rates, eligible seasonal employees who are students can earn up to $1,300 toward college expenses through UPS’s Earn and Learn program.
In the past, about 35% of seasonal workers went on to become permanent employees of UPS after their seasonal employment came to an end. Even Chairman and CEO David Abney started his UPS career as a part-time employee!
