It is pretty common these days to network with many women who are raising the bar when it comes to introducing new ideas and products. As a blogger I have been fortunate to meet women from all over North America who work hard, and from the heart. I am pleased that the person I have chosen as a nomination for Yahoo’s Women Who Shine is right here in Albuquerque. However, why she shines has no boundaries, on any level. Please let me introduce Donna Luke, the founder of MamaBearsPlace.
Since she was a child, Donna has loved teddy bears because of the comfort they provided her. In 2008, when she started MamaBearsPlace, it was the result of remembering that feeling of joy and comfort so much it was worth sharing, especially with children in hospitals. On her site, you will find beautiful Gund bears that you can choose from to send as a gift for any occasion. When you order your gift to be sent, an identical twin bear gets delivered to a child who is in the hospital. You can select a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in your own state or have it sent to a child at UNM Children’s Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. If you just love this idea, you can also send both bears to children in a hospital.
As stated in Donna’s mission statement, “one gift warms two hearts.” Any bear that goes to the hospitalized child comes with a Story Card that depicts how the bear was donated. And, that further enhances her vision of having “a teddy bear in the arms of every person in the country – who needs a hug.”
I love telling others about activities that come from the heart. What Donna does makes her shine brightly in my book! Check out her website, and be sure to vote for her so everyone can share in her vision. Isn’t a teddy bear the perfect answer for support, consolation or even congratulations? Who do you know who needs a cuddly hug? Keep in mind, your gift will truly warm two hearts, and that can be contagious. Thank you, Donna!
