Some of you will remember, back during my trip to Los Angeles last year for the Brave Premiere, I was also given the opportunity to see a few clips of the Frankenweenie movie and interview Allison Abbate — the Producer of the film.
I actually didn’t have the chance to see the movie in the theater. So I was very happy when it came out last week on BluRay!!
The movie itself is about a little boy whose best friend is his dog Sparky. You see immediately that unbreakable bond between the two of them so when Sparky gets hit by a car, you know what that little boy is going through. Victor and Sparky were inseparable. There is a ton of heart in this movie, much more personal and touching that any Tim Burton movie that I have seen so far.
In fact, most of the time I don’t like Tim Burton movies. He is extremely creative but they are just not personal taste. That said, I DID enjoy this one. It was moving and funny while mixing in that “Frankenstein” feel.
Yes, I did tear up. But I also laughed. I mean, there is a cat that tells the future with its poop! 😉
I highly recommend it. My kids (almost 5 and 6) both enjoyed it. In fact my son has asked to watch it at least 5 times in the week that we’ve had the movie.
Oh! And the 3D was fantastic, not overwhelming at all. I am becoming more and more impressed with the 3D technology these days. It used to be that it would give me a headache but they really have integrated the 3D very well.
Frankenweenie is available on DVD or BluRay on Amazon now!

I just rented this from Redbox.. and I thought it was very cute. I am a big Tim Burton fan myself so this was right up my alley. I wish I had the chance to see it in 3D though. I bet it would be awesome. 🙂
