So, the other night I started reading this great about the scariest and deadliest bugs in the world. All about spiders from all over the world. While some people hate spiders, Orkin is all for learning everything there is to about them. And helping YOU learn too!
When I was living in LA, someone in the apartments that I lived in somehow was bitten by a Brown Recluse. On his behind. I will never forget hearing all about it and ever since then I have been completely paranoid and scared of anything that even resembles one.
I sat on the couch reading this article and then get this… the next day as I was coming into the house… this MONSTER was on my wall! I just about had a heart attack.
And yes, I of course had to take a picture before I went into the house and grabbed one of my hubby’s shoes to get rid of it (I couldn’t even use my own… LOL). It was just too big and ugly to let it live in my house, as much as some may disagree with me!
I still do not know what type of spider it is, but I am pretty sure it was NOT a Brown Recluse. Even though it seemed to look eerily like one! Most pictures that I found of the Brown Recluse showed it less hairy than this lovely creature.
The article itself was quite enlightening though, it helped me understand what parts of the world have the scariest spiders, what to keep an eye out for where I live. The Orkin Ecologist Site is a fantastic resource for both those who are familiar with spiders and those of you, like me, that avoid the subject like the plague!
What is the scariest #BugOut moment that you have had?!

when my middle daughter was 4yo she was bit by a Brown Recluse. We’re so lucky we caught it early and oral and topical antibiotics stopped the infection from spreading. Whew! Spider bites can be so deadly!

Dock spiders are the worst – they are HUGE and bulbous. Yuck.
But, I love that they kill mosquitoes! 🙂
