Red Hot Candy Apple Pie
What you need:
2 refrigerated Pie Crust Dough sheets
2 cans Apple Pie Filling
3 oz Red Hot candy
1/4 cup Water
6 drops Red Food Coloring
Sanding Sugar (for top of pie)
How to make Red Hot Candy Apple Pie:
Preheat your oven to 375.
Mix 2 oz of Red Hots and water in saucepan over low heat until most of the red hots are dissolved.
Combine the apple pie filling and red hot mixture in a large bowl and stir to combine.
Place one sheet of pie dough in bottom of pie pan.
Pour the filling into the pie crust.
Top with the remaining Red Hots.
Using a pastry cutter or knife cut other pie crust into strips.
Basket weave the strips to form a lattice top. Trim and crimp around edges.
Sprinkle with sanding sugar.
Bake for 40 minutes. If the edges of your pie are getting too brown before the center is browned, cover edges with aluminum foil.
Allow to cool before serving.
Enjoy!
