With Fall in the air and Halloween just around the corner it is time to start making all those fun seasonal treats- popcorn balls, pumpkin everything, and of course candied apples! You have probably had caramel apples, and the red candy but if you have never had a chocolate covered apple then today is the day!!! The delicious combination of a fresh, crisp apple and the smooth and creamy white chocolate makes a delicious new twist on a traditional favorite treat. But it just wasn’t enough to cover it in chocolate..I really had to Fall it up! So the scarecrow came to be, and he was a big hit with the kids! The best part of it is that it is pretty easy to do so they can even help you make them.

Scarecrow Chocolate Covered Apple
Ingredients:
6 apples
1 12-0z. package white chocolate chips
6 candy corn
18-24 chocolate chips
12 candy eyes
3-4 nutter butter cookies
skewers
optional: paper straws
Directions:
Lay out a large enough sheet of wax or parchment paper to hold your 6 apples.
Place cookies in ziploc baggie, seal, and let the kids pound them into smaller pieces, set aside.
Wash apples very well to remove wax and any other residue, dry thoroughly with a clean cloth.
Remove stems from apples.
Cut wooden skewers to about 6″-7″ and pierce into top center of apple.
Place apples in freezer while preparing chocolate. (this helps keep your chocolate from melting and pooling once covered)
Place chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and heat in 30 second increments, stirring each time until completely melted.
Use a spatula to spread melted chocolate on apple, covering well, try to smooth and make it an even thickness all the way around.
Place apple on waxed paper and immediately assemble his face while chocolate is still wet, as it dries it will act like a glue for all his features. Add crushed cookies for hair/straw.
Slip a paper straw over the skewer and press into apple to add a bit more color and design to your apple.
Allow chocolate to harden- to quicken set time place in fridge.
Wrap each in plastic wrap well.
