Flu season is still in full swing this year. I think we have had different strains go through our house 3 times now. In some ways, I am thankful that little Oliver is still in the NICU through all of this, by the time he is home Flu season will be coming to an end.
That said… when he is home I NEED to have a reliable and safe way to monitor his temp and as needed reduce a fever.
Acetaminophen is one of the most recommended non-prescription medications by healthcare professionals – including pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners – for temporary fever reduction and relief of minor aches and pain in infants and children. FeverAll® is the only national brand of acetaminophen in suppository form and is available in three strengths for children from 6 months to 12 years of age.
In fact, FeverAll® Infants’ Strength Suppositories (80 mg of acetaminophen) is the ONLY acetaminophen product available with dosage instructions for children as young as six months of age.
Nice thing is, you can be sure that you are getting an EXACT dose with FeverAll® Suppositories as there is no measuring involved.
I am a big fan of this method too as you can actually monitor that the dose is given. There are so many things that can go wrong with administering the liquid to babies, between throwing up, spitting it back out, etc. There is no way of knowing exactly how much they are getting. Not the case with the suppository.
Some key Fever Ready Fever Facts:
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, fever in babies begins at 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit. Of course, call your physician about any concerns with fever in your child.
Using a digital rectal thermometer will provide the most accurate reading of a baby’s temperature.
Be prepared! Make sure you have acetaminophen in both liquid and suppository forms on-hand. In the event your child is unable or unwilling to swallow oral medication (tight lipped, vomiting), an acetaminophen suppository is a safe alternative to the liquid form and always provides an accurate dose with no mess.
When dealing with fever, how your child looks is as important as the child’s temperature.
Fever isn’t something to fear. It simply means the body is doing its natural job of fighting off an infection.
Contact your pediatrician with any questions about your children’s fever, particularly if your child is younger than six months of age.
Be sure to follow FeverAll on Facebook, plus watch videos on the usage.
