This past weekend was a truly unbelievable, whirlwind of awesomeness. Sunday morning I headed over to a top secret press junket for the new Star Wars movie; Star Wars: The Force Awakens (which hits theaters Dec 18!). When I say top secret, I’m not kidding. We walked to the location from our hotel, weren’t told where exactly until almost there, had to go through metal detectors and the whole thing was very well hidden behind curtains and closed doors. Unlike any other movie I have done press for, we were not shown the movie beforehand. In fact NO ONE is seeing this movie until after the red carpet premiere next week.
As you walked into the junket, it was like walking into a mini-Star Wars convention. They went all out for this one, with display after display of Star Wars. From toys to shirts, even a green screen to take a live-action shot with BB-8. And of course any Star Wars event wouldn’t be complete without C3PO, R2D2 and now BB-8!
Over the next week I will be sharing our exclusive interviews with Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Issac, JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy (yes, we actually got to interview ALL of them!)
Here is a glimpse through photos of the event.
THE costumes!!! I was pretty much fan-girling on these 🙂 Love ’em all.
They had a Verizon booth with the Star Wars Google Cardboard, download the Star Wars app and look through this little box and you join the Star Wars world! Quite a nifty little gadget.
One of my personal favorites about the displays, was the Star Wars Force for Change artwork. There were some absolutely incredible pieces. SO much detail and they were just stunning. I included a couple of pictures below, but there were a lot of them and I really would love a couple for my house 😉
Another highlight of the press junket was we dropped in on the global press interviews which included Mindy Kaling (in true sarcastic Mindy style) interviewing JJ Abrams, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Daisy Ridley, Carrie Fisher and Lawrence Kasden.
We were not able to interview Carrie Fisher as part of our exclusive interview (coming up this week) so getting to drop in for this one was a treat too. She is a hoot!
Oh and I cannot forget to mention the TOYS! So many to pick from 🙂
And the REAL toys too 😉
Then, as if our day wasn’t already spectacular enough, we were treated to dinner and Fast Passes at DISNEYLAND!! We visited the Seasons of the Force at Disneyland and I was so impressed with what they have done there.
We were going to visit the Launch Bay but we didn’t quite make it before they closed… Next time!
Right now you will find everything you are looking for Star Wars wise in the Seasons of the Force. It was an incredible experience and I cannot wait to bring the kiddos back with me! Even the food!
Growing up, my absolute FAVORITE ride at Disneyland was Space Mountain. Well right now, it is Hyperspace Mountain. There is an outstanding Star Wars overlay, music, talking, everything. It was fantastic!
I could go on and on about Seasons of the Force, truly I could. I am so impressed by everything they have set up there, from the rides, to the atmosphere, every part was perfect.
We even got to end the night with fireworks, perfect ending to a perfect day.
And if you haven’t been to Disneyland during the holidays, I highly recommend it. It’s stunning.
What a day, right?!??! Stay tuned for more details of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens press event. Coming up next is our interview with Han Solo himself, yes Harrison Ford sat right here a few moments after this picture was taken.
