If you missed last night’s, I am starting a nightly post where each day I will give you a Money Saving tip. Just the basics, one at a time! I am going to do these 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) and each Wednesday I will pick a tip from one of YOU to feature on the blog! If you have a money saving tip, leave a comment on one of the daily posts or email me. If your tip is featured you will get a $5 Amazon gift card!
Tonight’s tip for saving money is REQUEST FREE SAMPLES. Wondering why I say that?
Some people do not like getting free samples as they are small and can stack up. There are all kinds of creative things you can do with these samples though, here are a few ideas:
- If you have a guest room and/or guest bathroom, put together a basket of mini samples — they are perfect for a short stay!
- Teacher gift bags; every year at Christmas and the end of the year, many parents try to give their children’s teachers a little gift — you can put several together in an inexpensive basket from a dollar store, or gift bags and voila! You have a perfect gift.
- Donate to Goodwill or a Woman’s Shelter. Many women going through those shelters could use them if you won’t.
- Perfect for a diaper bag or purse.
- Just the right size to take with you on a weekend away from home!
What do you use your samples for?
Now, beyond the use of the samples themselves — these things come with COUPONS 90% of the time! Quite often, they are high value coupons that you won’t find elsewhere too. Sometimes, with these coupons you can then get FREE full sized products when paired with the right sale.
One of the best places to stay on top of all things FREE (well, besides Wheel n Deal Mama ;)), is I Love Free Things. He has everything FREE all the time!

Love all of your tips but requesting free samples is my favorite! I love getting samples before I buy something. Nothing like buying a box of $3.75 cereal that you hate.

Free samples are the BEST! The coupons are awesome that come with them too. I use the samples when on vacation, or to try new things before I buy. If I don’t use or don’t think I’ll like it once I get it, I donate it to the local food bank. They are pretty desparate lately.
I also wanted to say I have easily gotten a full jumbo pack of diapers free over the last 3 years in just free samples of diapers – pampers, huggies, costco – and a lot of times they come with wipes too! Perfect for an extra in the car or purse!

I feel the ali magazine pays for itself. Great reading and great coupons.
