Cancer SUCKS

Some of you that have been around a while may remember me posting about a friend of mine, Cody Bennett, last year. I really never post things like this on the blog — in fact she is the only person that I have posted about like this. I am asking for help from all of you to spread the word.

Cody is in her mid 30s and has just been told by her Oncologist that they are out of options treatment-wise. She is not giving up, with two young kids (6 and 7 just like mine!!), she is not ready to say goodbye. I certainly know that I wouldn’t be ready for that. My heart just breaks for her and her family. So I thought that I should say thank you for all of the messages, thoughts,prayers, calls, texts, worries, and concerns. This has been a roller coaster week for my family and myself. I have been in significant pain for the past six weeks and my team of doctors has diligently tested me with a battery list of tests including CT scans, MRI, with a colonoscopy as the final test this last Monday. The news was shocking being that I have been on treatment for so long but to make a long story short, the cancer is back with a vengeance. After a few days of waiting for the plan of attack, I was given the news that my oncologist was out of treatment options. Surgery is not an option because it would be a major, life threatening surgery. Without treatment my doctor felt that six months was his best guess on timing. I had to ask but of course he is not the final decision maker, God is in control and He will decide that. I’m exploring some other options including radiation, which I will start next week, some alternative remedies, and clinical trials. I feel great and I’m not giving up! My life is filled with so many wonderful people and my family-I’m not ready to say goodbye. So hold on to hope, kiss and hug your family for me just a little tighter today, and say some prayers. It is not over until it is over!!!
