A few months ago we bought a new couch set, it’s a gorgeous Eggplant color and I’ve kept them pretty clean despite having a 3 year old and a 5 year old 😉 No stains yet.
Well, last night the hubby was painting his little models while watching tv and…. you can see the pic. I just about died. 🙁 My new couch set (well, actually it was the love seat) was RUINED!! BLACK paint on the arm rest.
We immediately soaked up a TON of paint with just water as it is water based (but waterPROOF when dry). After soaking it up and scrubbing at it — you can see in the picture above — it was not pretty.
I asked the readers over on the Facebook page for recommendations and someone suggested Dawn dish soap. I had just gotten my P&G Sampler pack in the mail a couple of days ago and it had a sample of their Dawn Power Cleaner, I figured I would give it a shot. I took a clean rag, hot water and put a couple drops of the Dawn Power Cleaner on the rag. I scrubbed the area with the soapy water for about 30-40 seconds. Then I grabbed a second rag and used straight water to scrub and soak up the soap out of the couch. Once I got the soap out I used paper towels to soak up excess water.
WOW!!! Check it out! All gone!! It was still wet in the pic above so I wasn’t 100% sure, but you can see in the final picture below, the stain is GONE. Not even a trace. Needless to say, I’m impressed and will be buying some of this Power Clean! (I already use and prefer their regular dish soap but this stuff is the BOMB!)
Very inexpensive (FREE!) and easy stain remover! Oh and in case you were wondering, this is the paint that was spilled on the couch…. Citadel Games Workshop paint in Chaos Black.
