What do I mean by that?
Many of us save thousands a year by couponing, whether it be because you have to in order to get food on your table, or because you are saving to make larger purchase, or just because you are a smart shopper.
I was recently reading an article about the whole subject, where it was brought up that some people take that money they are saving and go spend it on things that you CAN find at a discounted or deal. It is easy to think “Oh, I saved so much on that deal, I have a bit extra” and then WASTE your money on something that you could get a better deal on. The whole gist of the article was that some believe that couponing is a farce as the money saved is just wasted on something else.
Take your time. Research. Ask. Google. Bing. Swagbuck Search 😉 Shoot me an email. If you are going to make a big purchase, take the time to really find the best deal. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying you shouldn’t “splurge” every now and again, if it fits in your budget, I guess I am just saying don’t be foolish about it!
In this day and age, you can get almost anything that you want at a discounted price. Even high-end name brand purses and jeans, furniture, jewelry, home repair items, appliances, etc. I really cannot think of anything that you can’t get a discount on one way or another. Even gas (through loyalty cards, store cards, etc.).
If you feel there is something you cannot save on, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Every time I spent money on little things like snacks and drinks, I had change left over. It wasn’t that much. There was 5 cents, 10 cents, and 25 cents here and there and I dumped it all in my dresser. After a month or two, I let my sister keep it and it totaled up to $10!
Tip: That leftover change you always put in your dresser will seem very minuscule now, but it will definitely add up.

I like to pay attention to the local thrift stores and their sales. On the holiday weekends are the best because usually everything is at least 50% off. I scored a brand new Khol’s $40 purse today for $2.

There are several things I like to do to save money besides couponing. When, for instance, bone in chicken is on sale for .79 cents a sale, I stock up. I then take all the chicken I bought and make enough soup, dumplings, and white chicken chili to last us the entire winter. This helps to negate my grocery bill!!
Another thing I like to do to save money is to go thrift store shopping. I especially go on 50% off days! You would be surprised at what people are willing to donate and the prices you can pick these items up for!!

I also make my own laundry soap, toothpaste, and body wash/hand soap!

I use cloth diapers. My child’s diapers (which are modern/easy to use) cost me what about 6 months in disposable diapers would have. Giving me 2-2 1/2 years of FREE diapering. The costs of diapers really adds up in a budget, and I love not needing to think about that cost anymore!

I pair up store sales with coupons ( got a 80$ pair of shoes for 35$ doing this recently)

My money saving tip is for large purchases.
First of all, NEVER buy anything new. Second, be patient!! Most people at one point or the other, will have to get rid of something really quickly in order to move, pay a bill, etc. Just be patient and wait for it.
Just this past week, I bought a sectional, and after shampooing it, it looks and smells brand new. I had been looking for over a year. I paid $95.00.
I also bought an Explorer for $1500.00. It’s in perfect condition. I’ve been looking for 6 months for a good used car. In both cases, the people are moving and needed to drop their prices really quickly, to get rid of them.
