My horror story is the work and misery I went through when a family member gave me a computer of theirs because I needed one and couldn’t as yet buy one. It had a virus on it, which I had to remove, other compatibility problems. I wiped the hard drive more times than I can remember, to get it to work properly. I could use it, but not without a lot of aggravation.

Hi! I like the Toshiba Satin Black 15.6″ Satellite C855-S5118 Laptop PC with Intel Celeron 847 Processor and Windows 8 Operating System. It has a built in webcam and memory card reader. Sweet! My horror story is something that still scares me! I turned on my laptop to print some coupons and a screen popped up with a notice saying the Federal Bureau of Investigation has locked up my computer due to me looking at haughty stuff (which I totally did not!!!). It said in order to unlock my computer I had to go buy a green dot card, load it with $300 and enter in the card number. I freaked out because I did not have $300 to pay for it. Tears began to stream down my face because I was afraid that the cops were coming to take me away from my babies. I decided to get on my phone and googled this. Turns out it was a terrible virus! I was relieved that I was not in trouble with the law. It took me weeks to remove the virus. I ended up reformatting my laptop. People are so horrid to create such scary and terrible viruses. Shame on them! But this gift card would be so awesome because my computer is so stinking slow.

The same thing happened on my mom’s desktop…She freaked out but she just reset her computer to the previous state it was before and was able to save all her documents

I like the Toshiba Satellite laptop. I once spent a month working on a final paper for a class I needed to graduate college. When I had all proof reading and editing done I saved it and went to celebrate with some friends. The next day, I went to pull it up to print it out and my computer crashed and the document was not retrievable. It was a true nightmare. It still gives me goosebumps.
I go thru horror every day with my desktop. Mine is 8 years old and is so slow (cpu is always at 100%) , freezes, and completely crashes all the time, twice today! I save, keep, and access my files on a backup hard drive because I am afraid the computer will just die at any minute.
My horror story is having my computer crash and losing all of my photos and videos! I lost thousands of photos of my kids and my dad who passed away. That was a huge lesson for me to always back everything up!
My horror story is not really as bad as others it is that it is so old that it freezes a lot and I have to reboot!

I let a buddy of mine borrow my laptop.. not only did he step on the screen and cracked it, but he also got it completely infected with viruses.
I would get the Acer Aspire Ultrabook. I had one a few years back that got crushed when I was moving. It was a very good laptop, especially because it could reboot in 5 seconds. My desktop takes 5 minutes.
I have been fortunate enough t5o never have a hard drive failure. I have had a few BSOD, but none were fatal. Most of my horror stories are virus related. No matter how careful you are at some point one will sneak through. Then you have at least an hour process of clearing it out and scanning to make sure you got it.

I bought my teen kids a laptop last year. As typical, they were constantly fighting over it, one time they were fighting for the computer, one had it from one side(the keyboard side) and the other had it from the screen side. Obviously IT BROKE IN HALF!

My horror story happened a about 3/4 years ago on my first PC…a dell laptop i had all thru college. There was a pop up that said my pc was infected but the pop up kept showing up. and then i clicked on it one day and it said i had to buy anti virus software. Then my computer crashed. i lost everything on it… years of music collecting. the weird part was itunes could still play some of the songs, but couldn’t locate them. Lucky they were already on an old ipod, but the problem is i can’t update the ipod or all the songs would be gone.

I had my laptop for years. And soon after I finished graduate school, it died. I had been so frustrated with the thing for months dying (slow and needed to be restarted all the time). One day the letter “R” popped out and never went back on. From then on, it was nearly impossible to type fast with the keyboard. I simply ended up not using the computer at all and went to the library to finish my work.

My computer horror story…. my dad passed away very unexpectedly almost 2 years ago, a few months after he passed and we weren’t sure if we’d find his backed up files of pictures and video (my dad loved taking pictures and video at family gatherings). So I was going through his laptop to get all the pics and video I could find on there to make sure I had them saved. In the middle of doing that, his laptop rebooted for some reason and wouldn’t start back up. I was crushed.. I still am. I have a friend who said her husband would look at it to see if he could recover the pics and videos (videos of my daddy & my kids) but I am so afraid he won’t be able to that I still haven’t worked up the courage to have him try.

My horror story is that our old laptop crashed after it got a Trojan virus, despite thinking we had good anti-virus protection, and I lost ALL the photos of the kids from the past two months because I hadn’t backed them up recently! Last fall, a house about 5 houses away got hit by lightning, actually it hit the tree in their backyard and the lightning followed the roots to their gas meter and their home caught on fire. My computer has never worked right since….I still think it did something to it. But…at least it was only my computer and not my home like it was for my neighbors!

During a thunderstorm several years ago, lightning struck the tree in our neighbor’s yard. The power surge fried the modem in our PC.
My first computer was an Acer I bought from Radio Shack. The computer crashed and I had to send
the computer to the manufacturer after talking to an India Indian Tech Support guy. I did not know I needed to make back up disks in case the Blue Screen of Death showed up. The Blue Screen of Death showed up the first month I had the computer. SO long story short, Radio Shacks ads that say,
“You got questions…we got answers” is a Grand Example of False Advertising!

My hard drive got corrupted and I lost hundreds of baby pictures of my kids. Fortunately I’m weird about not wiping memory cards, so I was able to retrieve almost everything.

I use my computer for everything. I teach do websites. My grandson wanted to share my coffee, he had a spoonful, from the cup beside my laptop and bumped the table. The coffee splashed on the computer in such a way it shorted everything out. It would not start or anything. I was very upset, but could not get mad at the adorable 3 year old. After being upset all weekend I called my technician when I got to school on Monday. He looked at it and could not fix it. Good news was that he could get my info off the hard drive. I now back up with an external drive and do not sit the coffee beside the computer.

My nightmare happened when my six month old laptop performed a Windows update and downloaded a virus to cause everything to freeze. Thankfully, someone was able to find the problem and wipe the computer for me so I started everything over again and don’t let anything automatically update.
My horror story – my stepson decided to erase all of my stuff from the computer one day. And we couldn’t recover anything.

I purchased a desktop from Dell and after three months it kept crashing (blue screen of death) and after countless hours talking to support (based in India or some other country) they finally decided that hey it had defective software, then I told them this was their error because for some reason they didn’t want to replace and they finally said they would send me new one and when I got it, was completely different from my computer and when asked they said they no longer made the then new model (three months ago that I purchased) and the one they sent was refurbished. I would never purchase anything from them again

My nightmare happened over time. I dropped my laptop once and it slowly started to break one piece at a time. First it was the latch that kept it closed. Then it was the CD drive, then the battery pack and finally after a year or so of dealing with that, the hard drive started to fail. By the end, I called it Frankenlaptop because it had so many things plugged into it. I had an external hard drive, external CD drive, and had to plug it into the wall at all times because the battery connection didn’t work anymore. It was time to get a new computer.

I remember when our Son was in Grade 11. He had worked all weekend on a paper that was due first thing Monday morning. When he went to print it, late on Sunday night, after I was in bed, the printer jammed. Of course, he woke me up, but nothing him or I could do would make it work. I had to run to WalMart first thing Monday morning to get a memory stick. Luckily, he put it on the memory stick and was able to print it when he got to school.

My horror story is when I bought my Sony Vaio, it was brand new, and whenever I would watch videos on it, it would freeze and the blue screen of death would pop up and my computer would just shut down. I was too afraid to tell my mom at the time (because she is the one that paid for it as a graduation present), and so I never got it fixed. I ended up selling it and buying a different computer, because I was tired of it.

I like this Dell model even though I have heard good things about Acers lately and my kiddo prefers I get myself an Apple Mac.
To be honest I don’t have a horror story “yet”…I try to make sure I important things stored on memory sticks etc so that if my laptop crashes it would not be a disaster. Having said that it would still be really inconvenient because of favourites bookmarked and other graphics and stuff that you still like to keep but perhaps have not backed up or saved! My kiddo deleted/lost some of my photos once on his PC and that did not feel very nice!

We had a Toshiba, that within a few months of having, broke down on us. Ended up being the motherboard…luckily it was under warranty still. Had it shipped out to be fixed, received it back and it worked fine. Not 2 months later….same thing happened. Got it fixed again and returned to us in working order. AND AGAIN! Not one month later….the SAME THING HAPPENED. It wasn’t under warranty anymore and it was the motherboard AGAIN! Come to find out, Toshiba had only been partially fixing our laptop and not replacing everything that needed to be fixed.

My PC horror story is I had a new laptop that I had waited to use for almost a year and once I started using it, it ONLY lasted 4 months and COMPLETELY crashed. Well because it was almost a year it was no longer covered under the warranties. Learned my lesson there. Always start using them and never go with Sony Vaio again!!

I had a gateway a few years ago that kept acting up the modem wasn’t working right and the hard drive went bad and I was under warranty, the nearest store was about an hours drive and they wanted me to bring the whole pc in.
when I brought it in they said nothing was wrong with the modem even though I told them about the disconnect and everything so they replaced the hard drive, 3 weeks later again my hard drive went bad and I told them yet ago that the modem would not stay connected as well and again they said nothing was wrong.
3 weeks later they called the they would replace my hard drive and then asked me did you know your modem is bad? lol and that they could replace it.
I ended up in total driving back and fourth 3 times before it was finally fixed and the was not cheap to drive all that way.

Sadly, my pc horror story is about the computer I have now. Until this one, most of the computers I had were fine. But this one? Since it was less than a week old it freezes all the time and I can not even shut it down. I have to unplug it AND remove the batter and restart it several times a day. I hate-hate-hate it.

PC Horror story: About 2 years ago, my computer turned off all of a sudden when I was using it. I tried turning it on and nothing would come up. I was worried I would lose all my twins pictures. At the time, they were about 6 months old so imagine losing all your beloved pictures of your precious babies. I called my husband and when he got home, he plugged it back in and tried turning it on. For some strange reason it came back on. Thankfully. We decided we didn’t want to chance it so we purchased an external hard drive and put all our pictures on it and everything else we would want or need. It was a good thing to because about a week later it crashed and we couldn’t turn it back on since.
I have had a DELL for over 8 years. I really need a new one. The hard drive went out the first year, but Dell replaced it. But I really like the Toshiba Satin Black 15.6″ Touchscreen C55t-A5222 Laptop PC with Intel Celeron 1005M Processor and Windows 8 Operating System too. Thanks

The life of my PC has been a horror story in itself! My PC and I have went through some hard times. At first, we were best friends. Then it started to turn on me, and lose important information, wouldn’t load pages I needed, and turned on and off as it pleased. The older it got, the slower it got and I started to lost faith in our friendship. Then one day it was gone….taken from me in the blink of an eye. I haven’t seen it since that dreary day. I’m now using my mom’s computer and she doesn’t like to share. 🙂

My horror story was way back in the stone ages(windows 95) I was a collector of cute silly exe’s, pics, video clips, just about anything that was fun/entertaining. I had a bad cd rom, took it in to get it replaced. They got my computer mixed with another, and formatted it… Poof, my whole computer wiped clean, scrubbed, empty. I was devastated. But… It did teach me to ALWAYS back up EVERYTHING. lol especially now that I have just about every photo of parents, kids, grandkids digitally filed. I won’t get caught again… Lol

ok, so I by a Gateway ( bran new @ Walmart) 3 months in i hear this horrible grinding noise and my cd burner went out, funny thing is it would not burn or play cds but it would play and burn dvds!?! uh?? then 3 months later the mother board goes out, luck has it that my warranty is still good, so I pay the 20.00 to ship it to Texas and I have it back in two long long long weeks ( I have on line classes, i had to go to my desk top to do them, ugh!!) so when it comes back it works again but minus the cd player/burner, they didnt fix it all!!!! errrrrrrr!!! i never sent it back ( oh and before sending it in tech support talked me into buying software, another 20.00, that was “suppose” to fix it, no more Gateways for this chick.
