So here we are in the middle of June, and I already want to stop buying tomatoes. Those ones fresh off the vine, that are warm from the summer sun, are so yummy. I mentioned last time that my tomato plants seemed to be adjusting in their kiddie pool space, but I was worried for a while with all the winds taking a toll on the leaves. And, I was not sure about the drainage. Now, even with drainage holes they seem to need less watering than normal here in the high-altitude New Mexico sun. My playground garden gets at least 8 hours of that sun a day. The opening picture is of the tomatoes at 4 weeks.
Peppers at 4 weeks
Zucchini at 2 weeks
As you can see, it won’t be much longer before I can pick a nice warm tomato. I have already picked a pepper or two. I see some good homemade salsa just around the corner.
Besides less water needed, there has been virtually no weeding, except for those silly mushrooms a few weeks ago. I can tell all the plants love the better soil we used in their fun containers.
