If you haven’t yet gone, you NEED to go and see People Like Us! It is definitely up there with my favorites of this year so far. When I was in Los Angeles a couple weeks ago I had the honor of getting a sneak peek of it at the Dreamworks Studios theatre.
Talk about an experience!! The offices and small theatre were very impressive, unfortunately that was a “no photos” portion of our trip.
I posted a separate review of the movie itself a couple days ago, it really is worth the trip to the movie theater!
The story itself was actually started from a picture the director Alex Kurtzman got of two young kids playing on a playground, with their father watching from a car in the distance. It was a scene that came to him and then right after that he found out that he had a half sister that he had never known existed — at the age of 30!
Thus the story began, the film itself itself loosely based on events from his own life and having the opportunity to interview him was just incredible. I mean, besides being the director for this movie, we are talking about a producer who has worked on some hefty projects; Transformers, The Proposal, Cowboys & Aliens, Fringe, Eagle Eye, Star Trek and tons more.

The script and story was put together over an EIGHT year period. It really was a labor of love and you can see that in the film itself.
