You may not be able to remember the last time you actually sat down inside a Pizza Hut and ate under its uniquely-shaped roof.
Pizza Hut has announced plans to close up to 500 of its older dine-in locations in order to focus on more delivery and carryout-oriented locations. While some stores will transition to the carryout/delivery model, underperforming locations will close permanently.
This comes as no surprise, considering what other restaurant chains from the Yum! Brands portfolio are doing. Both KFC and Taco Bell have been working to gain a bigger share of the delivery market.
As for the Pizza Hut dine-in experience, it looks like the red booths, the salad bar , and the pitchers of soda may just have to live on in our cheese-filled memories.
