Even though I am on the internet a lot, I still find it challenging to keep up with all the new stuff. I guess Merriam-Webster has just as much fun with updating. I read this morning a list of words that are being added, several of them having to do with technology, of course. “Cloud computing” is one of the new ones. Hmmm…that conjures up an intriguing visual. I am sure a good amount of “cloud computing” goes on in a “man cave,” which is another new addition, pun intended.
Just last week, I had an issue with a media player that I had used for years. I uninstalled it and re-installed it twice to no avail. After two and a half hours of delay to what I really wanted to be accomplishing, I left it uninstalled and decided to find another solution. Media players are needed. You know how you get that message when you are doing something ordinary – the one that stops you and tells you to install something. I may work online, but I am not always that computer savvy. Well, during my educational journey I discovered VLC Media Player. This is a very compatible multimedia media player that opens up just about anything. That is really good news for all persons who are computer literate, or not. It is a FREE download and it comes with lots of support. To learn more about VLC Media Player, check out this great intro piece. Good reviews and FREE; what more could you ask for?
First item on my agenda now is to find my current “earworm” and download it so I can test it out! Merriam-Webster is adding that word too. Do you have an “earworm” to share? If your dictionary is not from the future, try googling it, because I am not talking about a creepy crawler.
