This is the first year that I have had a child in school, so previously we were able to go on vacation whenever we planned it. As this school year is rapidly coming to an end, I am beginning to see the desire and appeal of a summer vacation!
I’ve been scoping out different places that we could visit and Missouri is rapidly moving to the top of the list! Did you know that they have 51 state parks?! Not to mention you can go on a river float (Google it!)
I am learning you can do just about anything and everything there. From caves to amusement parks, hiking or even SCUBA DIVING!
Not to mention the fact that Branson is there. I’ve mentioned before, I can’t hear anything about Branson without thinking about She’s Out of My League. But what I didn’t know is that it is actually the music show capital of the US?!
I am thinking of a nice 4 day vacation to take in the variety. While I would love to be able to explore all of the fun things to do, I’m thinking something along the lines of:
Day 1 — River floats! That would be a full day activity, nice and relaxing.
Day 2 – Visit one of their 3 amusement parks with the kids.
Day 3 – Check out a zoo!
Day 4 – Shop! I always have to visit the downtown areas and shopping malls when I visit a new place. 😉
That would be an action pack and fulfilling vacation to me! Head over and like VisitMO on Facebook and follow VisitMO on Twitter to stay up to date and plan your own itinerary!
What would be your pick for a great summer vacation?

I’ve never been to Missouri and honestly didn’t know it had a lot to offer. I’ll definitely be putting it on the list of states to take the kids to when we start exploring the US on vacation.

We recently started to see America first with our son. He is at a great age so that it is always an adventure. Thanks for this info, I see that Missouri is more than just St. Louis!

There’s all sorts of stuff to do in Missouri – Wineries, factory tours, lots of history from the Civil War, Underground Railroad, etc. You don’t want to go on a float trip though. Just a word of warning.

There are many places in the US I would like to visit. Looks like there are lots of fun activities to do in Missouri. And I just checked, it is within a days drive of where I live.

I’ve always wanted to go to Missouri! It looks gorgeous. Bet it would be really fun for a vacation with kids, too.
