Kiddie Pool Garden Update time!!
Yep, those tomatoes are red and ripe enough to eat! I am always amazed at how much better a fresh tomato from a sunny garden tastes. In fact, I just might have to see if one is ready out there right now to snack on while updating you on the garden’s progress. Enjoying a sun-heated tomato is what I have been looking forward to since I first started the Kiddie-Pool Garden.
We have been getting some of the seasonal monsoons over the past week, which mean less watering. Below is a recent shot of the herbs, onions, garlic and hot peppers.
The peppers are thriving, and they vary in heat, the spicy kind. I have to be careful in how many to use. Slicing them and sauteing them a bit to serve on the side works well so each person can choose how hot they want the taste. They are great with eggs, potatoes or meats. Look at that basil at the top left. I have been pruning weekly and it grows like crazy. What I prune gets dried and chopped up to store in a glass container for when I need a dry helping. I have been doing that regularly with all the herbs. Time will tell on the green onions and garlic.
The only problem so far is the zucchini, which does not even warrant a picture. I am still keeping my fingers crossed though. Hopefully, I will be able to have some to make those wonderful Parmesan Zucchini Treats I posted about not long ago.
For right now, I am grateful for that tomato I just devoured.
