Last week I was lucky enough to be one of several bloggers to participate in a phone interview with CJ Adams — the young star who plays Timothy Green in The Odd Life of Timothy Green.
First, I have to say — he really did a PHENOMENAL job in the movie! For someone that is just 12, I was very impressed. You are in for a total treat when you go see this movie (which, by the way, comes out TOMORROW!!).
Be sure to bring your tissue! It is one of those movies that you fall in love with every character and your heart goes out to all of them!
Back to the interview… I was just as impressed with CJ’s answers to some of the questions that he was asked as I was at his performance in the movie! He seems like a very sweet and sincere young man. Few of the highlights of the phone interview:
Question: What was your favorite part about playing the character of Timothy Green?
CJ Adams: Probably my favorite part of playing the character of Timothy Green was just being such a sweet boy. I just liked to play someone who was different and unique. That’s what I loved about being Timothy.
Question: Could you relate to Timothy Green’s experience?
CJ Adams: Hmm, that’s a good question. Uh, well, me and Timothy are very truthful. Like, if I played, like, I wouldn’t lie about anything, but also probably the best thing is that I treat, Timothy treats anyone the same no matter how they act. That’s what I do. I treat anyone I see, like, if a bully is mean to me, I would be nice to him.
Question: Of all the qualities that your parents wished you would have, what was your favorite quality that you had and why?
CJ Adams: Having a good heart because it’s most important is treating people the way that you want them to treat you, and that’s what I thought was probably the most important.

Question: Have you always wanted to act, and how did you get into acting?
CJ Adams: Well, I never really always wanted to act. It kinda just came suddenly because there was this free for all trial for Dan in Real Life, and I was kinda like, well, why not try out, you know, just for fun. And I got the part as, you know, Elliot Burns. So, and the head director of that movie was trying another movie, and I tried out for that, and I got the part. So now I’m trying to do more movies now. I’m in the business.

Question: What can grownups learn from Timothy Green?
CJ Adams: What I think grownups can learn from Timothy Green is that you should always take care of your kids and always have your, have their back rather than always, like, on their case, you know?
Question: What do you want kids to learn from the film?
CJ Adams: I want kids to learn that this is probably what I, this I didn’t, I didn’t, I’d better not do, but I want kids to learn that no matter how the person, who the person is, and, or how they act, like a bully or anything, I want you to treat them the exact same an- and then they treat you that way.
Question: Was it fun for you?
CJ Adams: Uh, actually, you know, every kid wants to get all dirty and stuff. But it actually wasn’t that fun for me because we were filming in, like, a thirty-two degree garage, and they kept spraying me with water so the mud would stay moist and would be able to dry, and oh, it was so uncomfortable.
Those were a few of the highlights! Be sure to go see the movie — you will LOVE it!! Like their Facebook Page here for more updates.
