Having a preemie truly is a totally different experience than any of my other children. I have learned so much from Oliver that you just don’t even have to think about most of the time. From tube feedings to skin care, developmental care to physical therapy. We have been through it all. And still are on a daily basis.
In the NICU, I very quickly learned the importance of skin on skin contact. This was the very first time I was able to hold Oliver (still one of my favorite pictures) and it was a daily routine every single day for months.
It’s amazing to see how far he has come, right?! From that tiny 1lb 10oz little dude! Skin on skin contact is one thing that I really feel helped him tremendously through his time in the NICU. This video, produced by WaterWipes really shows WHY that is too.
Watching that brought back so many memories of our days in the hospital. <3
One thing which I have found with Ollie though is that his skin is SO much more sensitive that my other kids’ skin ever was. I think the months of being in the hospital, the tape, the monitors, everything wore down his poor skin.
WaterWipes are the only wipes that don’t irritate his skin, the only ingredients in these are irish water and grapefruit extract. That’s it. No chemicals. Nothing added that doesn’t need to be there. Other wipes seemed to irritate his face if I would use them to clean him up, not WaterWipes.
Plus, with his G-tube I really need something clean and natural to wipe around the tube and I have found these to be perfect for that. It is easy to have food drip out around it and keeping it clean is very important. These wipes are wet enough to get out gunk and yet still natural and don’t irritate his skin. We had a lot of issues with eczema and these were also the only ones that didn’t irritate that!
Definitely my go-to! Be sure to share this great Pure Love video too, I love it!
