Fresh Squeezed Blueberry Lemonade

Fresh squeezed lemonade infused with delicious blueberries is the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer day. Taking two simple things like lemonade and  blueberries and adding them together creates a special and refreshing drink.

I see a chain of fruit-infused lemonade stands opening up across the country on every corner- ok maybe it wont go that far but I can promise you that you will enjoy this delicious twist on a summertime favorite. It makes a great refreshment for BBQ’s, baby and bridal showers, picnics, of while laying by the pool. Fresh Homemade Blueberry Lemonade

Ingredients:

3/4 cup lemon juice-fresh

1 cup water

 1 cup granulated sugar

6 cups water

1 cup fresh blueberries

Directions:

Squeeze lemons to get about 3/4 cup fresh juice- about 4-5.

Stir 2 cups of water and sugar in a pan over medium heat until sugar is dissolved.

Add blueberries, and allow to simmer for 5-10 minutes until they begin to break down and color the sugar water.

Pour mixture through a strainer to remove blueberries.

Allow to cool to room temperature.

Add lemon juice and the remaining water, stir well.

Serve over ice and garnish by adding lemon slices and fresh blueberries.

Variations:

Add a few sprigs of fresh mint to water with blueberries to brighten the flavor.

Use a combination of 1 cup strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries.

Stir in 1/2 tsp. fresh ginger to pan while simmering.

Add in blueberry vodka to taste for a grown up twist.
