There are tons of couples that have trouble getting pregnant and it’s heartbreaking… especially when time after time you just sit and stare at a negative pregnancy test, or that time of month comes and all you think about is how you’re a failure.
If there’s one thing I want to drive home in this post, it’s that you’re not a failure, you’re good enough, and while it may take trial and error, when that positive finally comes you will feel more love, hope and desire to be a parent than ever before.
You’re not alone.
Did you know sperm actually have optimal living conditions? Did you know that regular lubricants actually impede the sperm and their ability to make the move to the egg? I’m going to share a few tips in hopes of making your TTC journey a little bit easier.
5 Tips to Make TTC Easier
Relax – I know sometimes this is easier said than done, but it’s necessary and essential. Our bodies don’t operate well under stress, some better than others, but still not 100%. Have you noticed that when you’re stressed your menstrual cycle is late or lighter/heavier than normal? This can play havoc in your TTC journey.
An idea to help you and your partner relax is to take a vacation. A fun, no schedule, sit back and relax, have a glass of wine and just enjoy your partner.
Eat Well – Our bodies need nutrients and sometimes when we’re not eating right our bodies protest. Make sure you’re getting in your daily servings of fruits, veggies, fats, protein and more. Sometimes couples TTC start taking prenatal vitamins to help them as well.
Track Cycles – Get to know your body. We all have been told a normal cycle is 28 days with ovulation happening half way in between. While this may be true for some, it’s not true for all. Tracking cycles can build stress, so I don’t suggest you do it all the time, just long enough to see when you’re ovulating, if you are, and
when it’s the best time to have sex.
Get Intimate – When I was TTC I researched a lot of different things and talked to many people and found that having sex every other day during the week you’re fertile is best. I stick with the every other day rule because it allows the sperm to be mighty enough for the swim. When you’re having sex every single day, new sperm, every single time, and I think it gets in the way… or at least it made sensefor us.
Astroglide TTC – Typical lubricants do not help the sperm, it impedes and slows them down, thus making the road for them harder than it should be. Astroglide TTC does not impede sperm and allows them to move freely. It also comes in pre-filled applicators making it easy to use and less messy! Not to mention, Astroglide TTC is formulated with adjusted pH levels which is important in the trying to conceive journey… plus, it’s a similar consistency to cervical mucus.
Couples TTC are on an emotional roller coaster sometimes and aren’t really sure what to do or try next. I’ve heard some pretty crazy stories from some couples willing to get try anything just to have a little one, while I understand their thoughts, there are safer ways to go about things, like our tips above.
I wish much success to all couples going through this hardship and others. If you’re TTC have you tried the tips above? Have they helped? If not, what are some of your favorite tips to help make TTC easier?
