Did you see The Jungle Book? It is hitting your local retailer on DVD and BluRay on 8/30 and is a must-buy! If you loved the first one, you will definitely enjoy the live-action!
I think I have said this about every Disney movie that I get to go behind the scenes on, but seriously it AMAZES me how much thought and detail and time is put into every production. If you watch the bonus footage on this new DVD/BluRay, you will see exactly what I am talking about!
There is an additional hour or so of footage covering how the movie was made, what went into making it. How they made certain scenes. Watching the young boy with the green screen characters just shows you truly how well he had to act! It was crazy!
Not only did we watch that bonus footage but we had the opportunity to interview the producer and the visual effects specialist!!
My immediate question, after watching that amazing behind the scenes footage was how long did that whole process take?!
“The story development took about 6 months/8 months, something like that, so from the time you’re really starting to prep the film to the time we first met and started talking, you’re talking about a year of sort of pre-production and another year to finish it.” – BRIGHAM TAYLOR
“It was very short to actually produce the film from the moment we started shooting until the moment we released it. Up till now it was impossible to do a film that has this many shots in it, in 3-D, all computer generated. It was a miracle. It was about 2-1/2 years when I originally came on to start talking about it. We had to build up and make sort of in-house mechanisms to do this movie and the art department and the virtual art department and all the various things. But, 2-1/2 years I think.” – ROB LAGATO
We chatted with them about everything from puppetry to how many people were involved and truly it was just astounding. The detail, the way they had real people interacting with Mowgli, the set itself, you need to just watch the bonus features and SEE it! Get your copy of the film on DVD/BluRay this coming Tuesday!!
