This one may seem obvious to those of you that have been couponing for a while, but for those of you that are just starting — this is extremely important.
Each week, you will see match-ups for deals on my blog and pretty much every deal blog out there, these match-ups will always be referring to coupons from many sources. If you don’t have the coupons…. you will miss out on all kinds of freebies and deals! An easy way to start is to buy a couple Sunday papers and just start building up your stash. If you do see a deal that you want to get, but don’t have the coupon — there are places that you can buy coupons, including Ebay or sites dedicated to such — like couponclippers.com.
You can get coupons from so many other places too:
- Online printable coupons at coupons.com, redplum.com and Coupon Network
- Company/Brand websites
- Brand Facebook Pages
- Free Samples almost always come with a coupon too
- Peelies on products themselves
- Tearpads/coupon dispensers located near the products in stores
- Displays in stores sometimes have coupon booklets
- Magazines! All You Magazine is one of the best for coupons, but almost all “mainline” magazines have at least one coupon in them.
- Product boxes will also sometimes have coupons on the boxes themselves or inside.
- Cellfire coupons — these can be loaded to your store savings card.
- Savings Star coupons
- Mobile coupons — some companies have coupons that they send via text message — like Target and Meijer.
- Coupons.answers.com where you can search for coupons for a variety of stores and products

Money saving tip….use a water heater blanket to insulate your water heater. Most people don’t realize that this product exists. With electric water heaters a lot of the energy used is reheating the water in the water heater (keeping it hot). The extra insulation cuts this down a lot especially if the water heater is in an unheated part of your home.

Thanks for all this great info on couponing! I have been seriously couponing for only about a year now. I have learned from my many mistakes how it is supposed to be done .
My advice is to never go shopping when you are hungry, because you will end up throwing quick and easy and expensive, not good for you junk into your cart.
Also, look on the shelves at the store next to products you are thinking about purchasing, because sometime others will leave coupons that they have extras of, and you can pick one up for yourself. I always reciprocate, and leave some of my extra coupons on the shelf next to the product, for others to pick up and use.
And last but not least, ask your friends and family to save their Coupon inserts for you, if they don’t use them. You would be surprised at how many you can accumulate.
Thanks for all of your great advice and tips!

I love your blog! I have found the best use of coupons is by stacking store coupons (Target) with manufacturer’s coupons. Target seems to gladly tolerate coupons while walmart tends to give me trouble. THANKS
