I was invited by Disney on an all expense paid trip to LA to cover the premiere of Pete’s Dragon, but as always, opinions are 100% my own!
Walking the red carpet is always an awesome experience. When it is at the El Capitan, I think it is even better! The history of this theater is just incredible.
Not only were we able to walk the green carpet (yes, it was actually green), we also had the opportunity to attend the pre-premiere party at the Roosevelt Hotel just down the street from the theater. Disney always has fun things to make their premiere parties unique. From green screen pictures, to even making little friendship bracelets and getting spray on tattoos!
Plus great food and the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the who’s who in Hollywood. \
😮 Right?! The party was full of celebrities, from Joey Fatone to Lou Diamond Philips and it was just an incredible experience. I loved every minute of it.
Then of course we hit the carpet to head over to the El Capitan for the premiere, to see the movie! I love being able to walk down the carpet and it really is with all the celebs too! As we were walking down the carpet, I was chatting with Scott Speedman about another movie that is in theaters right now! (Yes, he is just as good looking in person!).
So many photo opps!
As we headed down the carpet, you could see all of the stars of the movie getting their pictures taken too 🙂

The whole experience was just surreal (as these always are really!!). After the movie (review coming up tomorrow morning!), us bloggers took a picture in front of the Elliot display they had on the carpet.
Right after we finished our picture, none other than Pete himself (Oakes Fegley), came out to take a picture on the dragon too!
Such a fun night!
The next day, we had a chance to stop back by the El Capitan theater. I’ve done their history tour before, but it is truly just amazing just how much history has been made in that building. Seriously. It first opened as a theater NINETY years ago!! Long before it was owned by Disney obviously!
The first Disney movie premiere was Rocketeer, 25 years ago. Crazy thing is, I lived in LA during that time! I don’t remember the first one, but I do remember the second! Aladdin. If you don’t know, the El Capitan always has a curtain show. They are one of the last theaters in the US that do actually still do that too.
Here, you can get a sneak peek at the Pete’s Dragon curtain show.

At the end of our tour, we had the chance to take a picture around the Wurlitzer organ too! So cool!
Pete’s Dragon hits theaters this Friday, 6/12, GO SEE IT!
