So first of all, I had never watched a single episode of Nashville until this recent press trip with Disney and ABC. We were given the opportunity to preview the Season finale. We watched the last two episodes of this season and after those two, I’m definitely their newest fan!!
Both episodes were phenomenal. Then having the chance to interview both of the Executive Producers and Eric Close, who plays Teddy in the show, was just awesome!
Few of the tidbits from the Executive Producers…
You know last week’s episode when when the concert was held for the troops? That was actually for the troops at a military base! They had no idea that Michelle Obama was going to make that appearance either.
One of the things that I was most impressed with was that all of the actors actually SING in the show!! And very well too!!
The Executive Producer Callie Khouri is actually from Nashville, she wanted to showcase how there is all this talent there that is untapped and from what I have seen in the show — she is doing just that!
We asked about how it was bringing Country Music to a bigger audience, if they had concerns with that or not. Here is what Callie had to say:
“So much of the music that is in our show isn’t necessarily what you would call country music. I, having lived in Nashville and my family living there, the thing that made me want to do the show is that there is all of this great music that is kind of stuck in Nashville that you never get to hear. It’s not going to make it to country radio. We have a few songs that would probably be on country radio, but most of them are the really great, heartfelt songs that you wouldn’t necessarily find on country radio. I love that our show is a platform to get that music out there because there are so many brilliant songwriters there and so much that you just wouldn’t call country. I don’t know exactly what you would call it, but it’s not what people think of as straight country music. I wasn’t concerned about it because I know how many good songs there are.”
We also had a surprise visit from Eric Close, Teddy — he was very fun to interview. Like I mentioned, I hadn’t watched Nashville from the beginning but from what it sounds like he seemed to be a bit of a “push-off” in the show. He actually did some of the fights in that show and had the “claw marks” to prove it!
I am not going to give you any spoilers for tomorrow night’s finale but you don’t want to miss it!! You’ll be in for a roller-coaster! 🙂
Good thing is… Nashville was renewed for another season! Tune in to the Season Finale tomorrow, 5/14 10-11pm EST. You will not be disappointed!! Although… like almost all season finales, be prepared to be left hanging!
