Fall is right around the corner and that means many of of go Apple Picking!!! I love going to the apple orchards with my kids and picking apples, but this means we have a TON of apples once we get home. This Crock Pot Apple Sauce Recipe is SO good and sues up some of those apples we have picked.
One of my favorite things about this homemade applesauce is that it takes only 5 ingredients to make!! So its super easy.
- Golden delicious apples
- Sugar
- Water
- Lemon juice
- Cinnamon (optional)
- Peel and core apples. Cut into fourths and place in crock pot. Toss apples in lemon juice and then add in sugar and cinnamon (if desired), stirring to combine. Add in water and then cover with the lid.
- Cook homemade applesauce on HIGH for 3-4 hours, or until apples are very soft. Allow to cool slightly and then mash with a potato masher or put in the blender for a smoother texture. Store crock pot applesauce in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
I’ve found that crockpot applesauce keeps in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks. I like to store the homemade applesauce in glass mason jars. I’ll often write the date that I made the applesauce on the lid so that I know how long it will keep, but my family usually eats it right up in a couple of days.
Cinnamon is typically the main spice that I use when making my homemade applesauce, but you can definitely add a variety if you’d like.
Below are a few options.
- Nutmeg
- Allspice
- Pumpkin pie spice
- Cloves
- Ground ginger
- Cardamom
