I love having a blog that gives me a platform to inform, guide and even vent a bit. Recently, I witnessed someone close to me feel the effects of not setting up a divorce properly and not going through the legal system at all. Nowadays, with our immediate access to so much information on the internet, it is pretty darn easy to do a little research to make sure we are armed with enough data.
Yes, a divorce or separation can make your life seem like you are on a roller coaster, but the best way to make sure you get on level ground quicker is to do your research so you make no mistakes. There are solid choices online to ensure you dot all your “i’s” and cross your “t’s”. A great example of sufficient information is this website for a firm in New Jersey, Weinberger Law Group, LLC. It gives you a step by step approach to all the family issues that are pertinent in a time of confusion. You may live somewhere else, be sure you research and find something comparable.
Concerning divorce and separation, on a lighter note…if that is ever the case, check out a few funny facts throughout the USA:
In Delaware, if you get married as the result of a dare, you can file for an annulment.
In Tennessee, it is grounds for divorce if you claim your mate is trying to kill you using poison or other evil means.
New Mexico or Mississippi – when a third party is responsible for the marriage failing, the jilted spouse has the right to sue their ex-spouse’s lover for damages. This is known as “alienation of affection.”
In Kentucky, you can only marry the same person 3 times. The 4th time is illegal.
Those are strange rules, but I will have to say that my mom’s parents got married 2 times. That is a good thing, since my mom was born after the second marriage!
