Lemon Flavored Sugar
This Lemon Flavored Sugar makes for a beautiful presentation inside of any jar you use whether it sits on your counter top for your own use or you give it as a hostess or any other type of gift. Pick up inexpensive mason jars, small canisters, or any other airtight container to package it up. I think this would be delicious lining the rim of drinks-from lemonade to adult beverages. Instead of plain sugar in a pound cake substitute the same amount of this sugar for a lovely, light lemon flavor. Add a spoon or two to your hot tea, sprinkle over sugar cookies, your morning fruit, or make your iced tea with a cup of this yummy mixture.
Ingredients:
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 lemon
airtight container for storing
Instructions:
Zest your whole lemon.
Spread lemon zest onto a foil lined baking sheet and bake in a 200 oven until completely dry.
Allow your lemon zest to cool and then combine in a medium sized bowl with sugar, stir well to distribute evenly.
Place in an airtight container. Allow lemon to sit in sugar for 2-3 weeks to fully absorb flavors before using.
To make for a fantastic gift add ribbon or raffia to your container and make a handmade label from paper scraps or add a pre-made label.
