If you like Egg Nog, you are going to LOVE this recipe!! In fact, I can pretty much guarantee you that you won’t want to have store bought Egg Nog anymore 😉 This is THAT good. The nice thing is, you can make this with a kick or without for everyone. Just enough sweet and spice to be one of my favorite holiday treats.
Homemade Cinnamon Spice Egg Nog
What you need:
12 Eggs
1 1/2 cups of sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp cinnamon
2 quarts of milk (2% or whole), divided
2 tbsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground nutmeg
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 pint Rum (optional)
Directions:
In a heavy large (4qt or more) saucepan, whisk together eggs, sugar and salt. Gradually add 1 qt. of milk. Cook and stir over low heat for about 30-35 minutes it reaches 160°-170°.
Pour the mixture into a large bowl and stir in the cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg and the remaining milk.
Fill the sink with ice and water and put the bowl in there, stirring regularly until it cools. If the mixture separates toss it into a blender for a minute or so.
Cover and refrigerate for 3-4 hours.
Beat the heavy whipping cream until soft and fluffy and top your egg nog! Sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg!
Enjoy 🙂
